... AFS are used to transmit signals in radio communication systems, broadcasting, television, as well as other radio systems using radio waves to transmit signals. The function of an antenna is to emit or receive electromagnetic waves. The electrical connection of the antenna to the source (consumer) can be direct, or can be done using a transmission line equipped with radio frequency connectors, i.e. using a feeder. The function of the feeder is to transmit electromagnetic waves from the radio transmitter to the input of the antenna and transmit electromagnetic waves from the antenna to the radio.

Depending on the range of radio waves, various types of feeders are used:
- two or multi-wire air feeders;
- waveguides of rectangular, round or elliptical sections;
- lines with a surface wave.
